About

Elina Gonzalez is an interdisciplinary artist whose work spans photography, collage, sculpture, and installation. Rooted in emotional intuition and storytelling. Originally from the border town of Chula Vista, San Diego, Elina spent their childhood going to Tijuana every weekend to visit their grandparents.

They explore the intersections of their Mexican heritage and the complexities of being first-generation. Elina’s photographic work is driven by intuition, warmth, and the desire to create a wonderland where fantasy becomes a survival mechanism.

Elina works closely with the earth, leaving space for natural processes and archival imagery to guide their work. Through these material and visual processes, they inscribe personal memory onto public history, working through mourning, reviving pleasure, and celebrating queer visibility. Elina continues to expand the boundaries of emotional narrative and material investigation in contemporary art.
